Description
Consists of a thin layer of silver alginate matrix. This forms a soft gel when in contact with exudate, allowing the immediate controlled and sustained release of silver ions into the wound.
Indications
Infected or critically colonised partial- to full-thickness wounds (category I–IV pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, second-degree burns, donor sites)
Contraindications
Known sensitivity to alginates or silvers; where the presence of metals is contraindicated; ulcers resulting from infection such as tuberculosis, syphilis, or deep fungal infections; third-degree burns
